Dominic D'Agostino
University of South Florida Associate Professor Dr. Dominic D'Agostino
Based in Tampa, Florida, Dr. Dominic D'Agostino has served as an associate professor at the University of South Florida since 2006. His lab work at the university focuses on the development and testing of various metabolic-based therapies, ranging from calorie-restricted diets to metabolic-based drugs that target pathways associated with seizure disorders and neurodegenerative diseases. His specific activities include atomic force microscopy, diet design and formulation, and blood metabolite measurements, among many other processes. Dr. Dominic D'Agostino has established himself as a member of numerous professional organizations during his time at the University of South Florida, including the American Physiology Society and the Society for Neuroscience.
In 2014, Dr. Dominic D'Agostino expanded his professional activities by joining the Institute for Human and Machine Cognition (IHMC) in Ocala. He works closely with the IHMC team to create strategies for improved physiological performance in operational environments. He supports the team by participating in grant writing, research, and outreach event efforts.
Dr. Dominic D'Agostino studied biological sciences and nutrition science at Rutgers University. He focused on nutritional biochemistry. He continued his education at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, earning a doctor of neuroscience and physiology.
